The list of buildings include: Christ Church Cathedral (1884, 1934), Court House (1880), Post Office (1874), Fitzgerald Chambers (1908), Foott Law and Company Offices (early 1880s), "Istria" (Edwardian architecture dating from 1899), an 1860s cottage in Victoria Street, "Arcola" (Edwardian, 1907), "Verona" (a simple residence dating from 1876), "Abbotsford" and "Bronte," (side-by-side Federation houses, 1907-1910), "Ulverstone" (1870s), "Schaeffer House" (1900), the CBC Bank (1877), the old Daily Examiner Building (1861), Weiley's Hotel (1909), the TJ Ford Pavillion (the "Barn") at the showground (originally built on the racecourse in approximately 1890 and moved to its present site in 1905), St. Andrew's Church in Oliver Street (1886), the Teacher's Centre in Mary Street (originally a private grammar school built in 1878), "Rosslyn" (Victorian residence, 1879), Pullen's Store (1917 and 1920), Grafton Gaol (1893), "Telarah" (1879), and many other fine old residences.

Clarence River Historical Society, 190 Fitzroy Street Grafton NSW 2460. Schaeffer House, which houses a Museum and Research Room, is the headquarters of the Clarence River Historical Society. The homestead was built by the son of a pioneer German family, Grafton's first architect, Mr F.W.C. Schaeffer, between 1901 and 1903. The society was formed in 1931 and is the oldest country historical society in New South Wales. Schaeffer House displays beautiful china, glassware and furniture presented to the society over the years. The quality of the exhibits and the magnificent building ensure a most satisfying experience.
